Spectro cm 24

Spectro CM-24

A new battery testing technology is emerging that departs from the traditional load test by modeling a battery against a matrix in a similar way face recognition work. The non-invasive test estimates capacity and other battery characteristics in 30 seconds to validate performance and assure safety.

Most available matrices support lead acid batteries but Multi-Model EIS also supports lead-based systems. Test accuracy of the Spectro CM-24 is based on the Matrix Integrity Level (MIL) that can continuously be improved by scanning batteries of same model or within common characteristics. Each of the scanned battery should have a representative capacity fade to attain a full test range when modeling batteries.

Matrix development involves intercepting new and used batteries for scanning in a battery lavatory or by the portable Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) that is made available on request. Scanning with the DAU is automated. Please also see BU-919.

Typical Spectro applications are testing starter batteries to prevent getting stranded with fading capacity that goes unnoticed. Special attention goes to heavy duty batteries with custom matrices to read capacity, the leading health indicator, that load testing cannot attain. Spectro™ is especially beneficial in measuring capacity of wheeled mobility such as scissor lifts, floor sweepers, golf cars and wheelchairs. No battery should be engaged out without knowing the Minimal Operational Reserve Energy (MORE).

Turning the Matrix Library into a Cadex product

The Spectro CM-24 is not limited to the intrinsic matrix. Matrices form the CadexCloud turns the Spectro Modular into an open test platform to service virtually any battery up to 300Ah and 48V (nominal) by downloading the appropriate matrix into the open Spectro platform.

The open Spectro platform enables downloading matrices in preparation to assess capacity of stationary batteries in remote locations, a task that was impossible without doing a full discharge.

The CadexCloud also serves as portal to store test results for review to estimate the remaining useful life of batteries based on predictive capacity fade.

The Spectro™ technology can also be incorporated in modern BMS to assess capacity and detect anomalies in UPS. A further service is reading the electrochemical evidence of batteries with the Spectro Explorer by optical evaluation of the Nyquist plot as part quality assurance.
